PRESS RELEASE For immediate release
Partnership between UQAM and Pointe-à-Callière
Montréal, June 12, 2006 - UQAM Rector Roch Denis and Francine Lelièvre, Executive Director of Pointe-à-Callière, recently signed a partnership agreement between the two institutions. The agreement establishes formal terms governing the existing co-operation between the Museum and the University, so as to facilitate and step up exchanges between the two institutions and further their shared interest in research and education on the subject of Montréal archaeology and history.
Links between the two institutions
UQAM and Pointe-à-Callière have a long tradition of co-operation. Even when the Museum was still in the planning stage, professors in the departments of history and art history and in the Master’s in museology program met with Pointe-à-Callière representatives to work on research and outreach initiatives. Since it opened in 1992, the Museum has hosted many interns from UQAM’s Master’s in museology and applied history programs.
The two institutions have now signed this five-year partnership agreement as a way of encouraging joint initiatives, cultural and educational programs and the sharing of expertise.
