Summer 1976. Montréal is pulsing with the energy of elite sport. Thanks to an absolute tour de force by Mayor Jean Drapeau, the metropolis is the first Canadian city to host the Olympic Games. On May 12, 1970, after several failed bids, Montréal beat out Moscow and Los Angeles to win the Games of the 21 Olympiad. The event left its mark on generations of Montrealers, Quebecers and Canadians.

That was 40 years ago. What are your memories? Here are some of the highlights of these unprecedented summer Games.
